Tile Monsters also attended Cersaie 2023, the International Fair for Ceramic Tiles and Sanitary Ware, held in Bologna from September 25 to 29, 2023. In the next blog we will go into more detail about the trends we saw there, but in this blog we will tell you we would like to tell you more about our experiences.
The fortieth edition of Cersaie
Cersaie 2023 marked the fortieth edition of this trade fair, which has become a global meeting place for professionals in the ceramic tile and sanitary ware industry. The fair has reflected the change in materials and trends in the industry over the past few years. Especially for this 40th edition, there was a route 40: this depicted the evolution of Cersaie over the past 40 years.
Experiences of Tile Monsters
Rick, Jeroen, Ewelina, and Crétienne van Tegelmonster traveled together to Bologna for a busy program. What was immediately noticeable was the growing unity within the industry, where factories seem to be growing closer together and jointly follow the trends. In addition to the 2023 Cersaie fair, the larger manufacturers often had their own house show at their own factory. For example, Jeroen attended Fiandre's home show, where they had created a completely new showroom with a lot of design and architecture.
A central theme at the fair was Travertine, a natural stone with a rich history in construction. This classic stone seems to be making a comeback in the world of ceramic tiles and we saw it everywhere.
Another shift we noticed was the trend around bibs. The manufacturers seem to be competing in creating large tiles, with sizes such as 120x180 and 160 by 320. Additionally, the 120x120 floor tile has become a common choice for modern interiors. However, it seems that the industry is mainly building on the successes of previous years.
Customers were also enthusiastic about the small format tiles and the tiles with metallic, gold, silver, bronze, 3D and glitter effects. These tile designs had already been introduced, but at the fair customers had the opportunity to admire them in person.
All in all we had a busy few days, but we also had a great time together. If you would like to know more about the trends and novelties we saw at the fair, you can contact contact us or take a look at our social.
